While in town on business for a couple weeks, I decided to order in from Golden Dragon for a change of pace from the hotel restaurant. I love good chinese food, and I travel extensively so I've been able to try many great and unfortunately terrible places. I read good reviews about this place, so I decided to give it a try. One review mentioned the Empress Chicken, so I went with that and some Sweet and Sour Chicken to try also. My experience was pretty good, almost great, from the time I placed the order until the leftovers were put away. The woman answering the phone to take orders was extremely helpful, very patient, and did not rush this new customer at all. Delivery time was 45 minutes, just as I was told since they were busier than usual when I called. Much to my surprise the delivery driver brought my order right to my hotel room door, which was a long walk for him with the only entrance for him being the lobby. When I served up a plate and took a bite, the Sweet and Sour Chicken was perfectly crispy and delicious! The crunch was almost as loud an biting into an apple, and that's after riding around with the delivery driver in a sealed carton where most food gets soggy. No sweet and sour sauce for dipping, which was a slight disappointment, but the fresh and hot dish more than made up for that. The Empress Chicken, which I had never tried before, was interesting. It seemed to be somewhere between Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. It was mildly spicy and very crispy even though it was tossed in a sauce. It was served with onions, peas, and small peppers. Since it was my first time trying this dish, it was interesting, but the newness wore off after a few bites. The flavor of the sauce was very bland, I thought. All in all, I thought the food was excellent. Very hot, fresh, and tasty. I would not order the Empress Chicken a second time, but that's just my personal preference. Highly recommended!

I ordered General Tso's Chicken and Crab Rangoon. The flavor was amazing but the there wasn't any chicken in my chicken!! Every piece was breading and sauce....not an ounce of chicken!! Delivery took an hour. I will not be a repeat customer.

I give two stars out of mercy. I found the food bland. Egg Roll was cooked well but lacked any flavor. Sweet and Sour Chicken was lacking enough S&S . Hunan beef was seasoned with too much salt..,and we didn't add Soy. I got sick a few hours later...not badly sick..,just a little time in B/R. Sorry. I will not go back. That's a shame as it looked clean and is near where we live.

I have been going to the Golden Dragon for years now and have never been disappointed. Their food is amazing, the fried rice is the best in town! Keep in mind there IS a language barrier between the owner and a good amount of people in the area. Don't be quick to judge the man. Delivery is slower than a lot of businesses but it is always worth it for me when the food gets there.

For take out Chinese, this is my FAVORITE! Their sesame chicken is SOOOOO yummy! MMMM-HMMMM! I only have that on special occasions though because it's more of a dessert'y item than a dinner (it's very sweet! but I still love love love it!). For just a regular lunch/dinner item my favorite is their cashew chicken (it has lots of veggies too). I've tried cashew chicken from other take out locations around town but keep coming back to this one even though it's a longer drive for me, this is the best! I wish I knew how they keep their chicken so incredibly tender. I also love their sweet-n-sour anything, and shrimp w/mixed veg (and the scallops addition to this is awesome too!). I like their broc beef (one time it came with too much oil, other times it was fine).

I wish the latin phrase, "CAVEAT EMPTOR" had entered my brain before walking in to this "restaurant". This meal is likely the worst food I have eaten in years and I only had 2 dishes. Why anyone would return to eat this food is beyond me. People of Eau Claire have been duped into thinking this is what Chinese food should taste like. Wrong. My first inkling should have been the completely lackluster decor. This joint has no interest in having people eat in. The sterile walls and black and white plastic menu lettering is what one would find in a Burger King. There were a number of people waiting for their takeout orders. Why bother? Too lazy to cook? Convenience? I guess so. So...onto the food. Obviously no one eats there because my food was served to me in a white, to-go bucket and the soup in a plastic container. I was given a foam plate. I ordered Wonton Soup. I love wonton soup. Two bites and I was done. The broth was dark, relatively flavorless and somewhat greasy. There was one wonton that had sunk like the Titanic to the bottom of the tub. I pushed it aside and didn't even bother to taste it. If you can't make good soup broth how is that wonton going to taste? The Empress Shrimp was described as "shrimp and peas". Yeah. Overly battered deep fried shrimps , so much so that the shrimps were desiccated and tough. The sauce was sweet enough to have been used for cake frosting. Awful. This horrendous meal cost $10. I ate four bites in total and threw it all away. Life is an accumulation of experiences, trial and error. Big mistake ever having walking into this "restaurant".

I've had much better Chinese food than the Kung Poa Shrimp I had here. It had good flavor but the shrimp were way too over cooked. They were very tough and chewy and didn't taste even like shrimp. I wont be going back here being I can get better Chinese food in town and I'd rather spend my money there. Its also a little pricy for the quality of food I think.
